GETTING YOUR LICENSE
Becoming a private pilot unlocks a new level of fun and adventure in your life! It’s challenging, fun, and incredibly rewarding.
REQUIREMENTS
✅ 17+ years old
✅ 40 flight hours (avg. is 60+)
✅ Pass FAA written exam
✅ Pass FAA practical exam (flight)
✅ FAA 3rd class medical certificate
TIMELINE
🗓️ Plan on around 6 months
The fastest (and most affordable) way to get your license is to commit to at least 2 lessons per week. That way, you aren’t re-learning material each lesson due to flying too infrequently.
Flying twice a week, you can expect to get your license in around 6 months.

Think of your private pilot’s license (PPL) as a “Level 1” license. You’re officially a pilot, but your certificate has limitations. You' can’t fly through clouds or in bad weather (you need an instrument rating for that) and you can’t earn money for flying (that’s commercial license territory). But it’s where every pilot starts!
